In my reinterpretation of La Lotería, "El Arbol" is a living chronicle, a story of how a painting, much like a tree, unfolds organically. Its life does not begin with a seed, but in the soil of memory. The textured fields on either side are the foliage, a complex canopy of warm earth tones and greens built from varied washes and the confident mark of a palette knife. Each layer is a season of growth, a history held within the material itself.
This textural canopy then opens to reveal a space of profound calm. Down the center of the canvas runs a clean, serene gradient—a trunk of solid green blending into a soft, warm mocha. This is the shade of the tree, a quiet sanctuary for the eye and the mind to rest. It is a testament to the idea that within a life of rich, layered experience, there is always a core of stillness to be found; a meditation on growth, and the simple, grounding comfort of finding your shade.
