Windows of the World
November 22nd, 2025 – January 10th, 2026
Step through “Windows of the World,” a solo exhibition by Austin-based artist Laura Clay at the Dougherty Arts Center. Exhibiting from November 22, 2025 through January 10, 2026. Free admission.
Reception: Wednesday, December 3rd, 7-9PM
Drawing from her experience as a Mexican-American artist, Laura Clay's latest body of work invites viewers to peer through metaphorical windows into multifaceted worlds. Each piece acts as a portal, framing the complex interplay of bicultural identity, memory, and the search for balance between chaos and order. The exhibition explores how our internal landscapes are shaped by the cultural and traditional windows we look through.
The show will feature a compelling collection of abstract paintings where viewers can expect to encounter Laura's signature use of rich gradients, textures, and evocative forms that navigate both personal and cultural narratives.
We invite you to join us for an opening reception, while we explore the interior and exterior worlds that shape who we are. Free and open to the public.
Artist Talk: Wednesday December 10th, 7-9PM
In this artist talk and presentation, Laura will share the ideas and evolution behind her exhibition Windows of the World—a body of work exploring culture, identity, and the perspectives that shape how we see.
Through personal stories and a look at her artistic process, Laura will discuss how her bicultural background informs her abstract compositions, which balance structure and spontaneity, geometry and gesture. Guests are invited to engage in dialogue, ask questions, and gain a deeper understanding of how her paintings serve as windows into layered experiences of belonging and place. Free and open to the public.
